Overview
One of the names given to Jesus (Revelations 22:16) is the bright Morning Star. The Papuans were very familiar with the morning star. Any time the coastal Papuans were planning a sea voyage, they would pack their canoes the evening before and sleep on the beach. As soon as the morning star appeared clearly they would get in their canoes and set out.
In 1956 Laurie Gray went to Papua New Guinea and together with the locals set off on a voyage of discovery, heading towards the “bright Morning Star.” Through malaria, intertribal disputes, leeches and mud, Laurie taught the locals about the joy, hope, peace and love that could be found in the Morning Star and the locals shared their language and culture with Laurie.
This book is about this journey, first with Laurie then Laurel and then their children.
The Bright Morning Star is an A5 book of 368 pages, and is illustrated throughout in black and white.
Revelation 22:16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”
