Overview
This is a very thought provoking and quite beautiful booklet by Blue Mountains artist and author Karen Curren. On the back cover of the book, Karen writes “This beautiful illustrated book features six original paintings by Karen Curran and takes you on a journey of self-discovery.
It’s about finding what are your “red shoes” and discovering hope and possibilities, as well is remembering your song.
Be inspired by these paintings from the heart.
This rather cryptic description all makes sense towards the end of the book when Karen explains the reason — an original tale created by Hans Christian Anderson and adapted by Karen Curran. Karen offers some reflections on the rather gruesome tale and finishes with a note of encouragement. You can read more about the story in the extract, which is available to read online or download.
About the author and illustrator
Karen Curran has been a graphic designer, typographer and illustrator for business clients all her adult life, however after a serious illness in 2015 she discovered that at the heart of her was a creative painter.
Now her time is divided between her design clients and her love of painting and storytelling through her art, restoring her creative life.
Karen resides in the Blue Mountains NSW Australia with her husband and their animals — currently two former rescue cats — who tend to rule the roost.
Her passion is to inspire and bless others through her paintings from the heart and storytelling.
